Is mold covered after a covered water leak?
Mold is often limited to a fixed dollar amount even when the water that caused it was covered.
What filed forms generally say
Filed forms generally exclude mold, fungus, wet rot and dry rot as a general matter.
Many then add a limited remediation allowance that applies only when the mold results from a covered water loss — commonly a flat dollar cap.
Delay in reporting or in drying the property is frequently raised under the neglect exclusion.
Why your policy can still say something else
The remediation cap, and whether it sits inside or on top of the coverage limit, differ by form and endorsement.
