Why is my wind and hail deductible different from my regular deductible?
Many policies apply a separate percentage deductible to wind and hail losses instead of the flat dollar amount on the declarations page.
What filed forms generally say
A percentage deductible is calculated against the dwelling limit, not against the size of the claim — so it can be several times the flat deductible.
The declarations page usually states both, and the wind or named-storm figure is often expressed as 1%, 2% or 5%.
Some forms apply the percentage only to named storms; others apply it to all wind and hail.
Why your policy can still say something else
The trigger and the percentage are set on your declarations page and can be modified by a deductible endorsement.
